Injury taking too long

It’s almost three months and my injury just sucks. I need to really, really run and do some hard anaerobic exercises, not just puny brisk walks, core exercises, and weights training (with a 30-pound dumbbell). So far, the shoulder still bothers me, especially on cold, or even cool, days and nights. I tried to work it up a bit but had to endure nagging pain and arthritic-like symptoms for days.

I haven’t run in any race in the last three months. I need to feel the asphalt again if only I can do so without reinjuring my shoulder or putting pressure on it. But, as any runner would know, the need to swing arms and use them to control rhythm and pacing are indispensable, hence, it just sucks I can’t even use my arm to get apace with a little running.

Next week, I plan to break my recuperation period to do some brisk running, if that is what it is called. The desire to do it is overwhelmingly deadened by this injury, but I do hope I can make some progress, however little it may be. There is no turning back the tide when the goal is to run by June again. And by golly, June 15 is going to be my first run in four months and I am egging myself that by then I will be ready, prepped and hungry for a run amid the sea of “foolish and frenetic” runners. Who cares, anyway, since I am one of them.
