Prepare for …

I’ve always been a fan of J.J. Abrams, creator and auteur of TV hits Alias and Lost.  Anything that boggles my mind is my friend, which Abrams delivers with scintillating gusto.  So it is no wonder that I highly anticipate the premiere of his next TV blockbuster, Fringe, coming on September 9 via the Fox Network.  Of course, as we are in the Third World, I say a full first season would be over by the time Fringe hits our shores.  And I am sure, a lot of torrent downloads by then would have completed the first season package for me.

So what is Fringe? Frankly, I have no idea.  The premise? Here’s what Wired News has to say about the it:

“The two-hour Fringe pilot, debuting Tuesday on Fox, introduces federal investigator Olivia Dunham (played by Australian newcomer Anna Torv), her unlikely ally Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) and his mad scientist father, Walter (John Noble). They team up to investigate a horrific airplane disaster, which leads into an increasingly bizarre rabbit hole of strange incidents.

So-called fringe science, including re-animation, invisibility and assorted paranormal phenomena, serves as the show’s foundation. Lurking in the background, a corporate shark (Blair Brown) employed by the mysterious Massive Dynamic conglomerate, promises plenty of fodder for conspiracy buffs”

Pretty convincing eh? I hope so.  Alias delivered the kind of slam-bang action with a dose of never-ending conspiracies on TV.  Lost quadrupled the dose of never-ending conspiracies but with less slam-bang action.  Fringe, though, is said to quadruple both action and conspiracy to the max.  That would mean a lot of sit-outs in front of the TV, and buckets of popcorn and soda to boot (though, peanuts and root beer would suffice for me).

So, what is it really about? I hate to burst your bubble yet, but here’s a great, great preview of the upcoming series aka viral marketing pitch @ Exploring the Impossibilities.

Also, a lot of read is out on the Fringe.  Take some time to pick on them.
